September 8th-The First Glance at Oregon

I awoke to Archie feverishly foaming around the windows before the guy came to finish off the trim.  I was able to meet Brianne for coffee in the morning, so good to see my sweet friend again.  We said good-bye to Penny and Archie and we hit the road after giving Gabe a belated wedding gift.  One last stop at Caputo's for some lunch time sandwiches and we were off.

Another uneventful drive.  These blogs seem to be getting more lame as nothing exciting or dangerous has been happening.

We drove to Baker City, OR where we ate dinner at Barley Brown's Brew Pub.  A notable beer was the Hot Blonde, which definitely had a kick to it.  It reminded me of the jalepeno beer at Eddie McStiff's in Moab, UT, which no longer makes the jalepeno beer.  All in all good beer and good food.  An interesting factoid about Baker City is that the Armstrong gold nugget, weighing 80.4 ounces, was found here.

We have no crazy stories about this hotel or town yet. . .

  1. we're wondering how Tesni is...suspiciously absent from recent photos...hooked on kitty tranqs yet? (Tesni, not you!)

  2. Tesni is a pro at finding hideouts, and our house has a few of those. She would disappear for hours, and then suddenly reappear.
Has anyone tried that foam in the red and black cans? It expands to two to three times the thickness one applies. It was fun, but worrying stuff with which to work.

  3. So after reading your blog faithfully in hopes of an exciting conclusion, you've left us all stranded on the outskirts of Oregon for the past week. I'm sure we'd all love to see some pictures of the new house, returning the truck, and Eugene hippies. Please, just one more post!

  4. Hi Archie! No, we've never used that crazy sounding foam. Sounds like the type of thing we could have abused had we known about it when we were filling in gaps :)

  5. John and Erika, It worked great. I had 4x4 inch spaces where the window weights used to travel, and by squirting in two inches of foam, it expanded to fill the space.
