September 5th-2nd Longmont Olympiad

Day 5: In Sept of 2005 Alex, Dan, Erin, and I had the brilliant idea to compete in our first Longmont Olympics.  Rules and games were decided on a napkin in a Boulder brew pub.  Dan and I competed against Alex and Erin in the highest tests of athleticism: pool, kickball, whiffle ball, HORSE, bowling, and mini golf.  Dan and I prevailed as the winners.

In the second olympiad we decided to tone down the sporting events to accommodate a now pregnant Erin.  The decided events were: Pool, Whiffle Ball Home Run Derby, TOLF (tennis ball golf), HORSE, Mini Golf, Horseshoes, and Croquet.  Only two injuries in the second Longmont Olympiad.  One, Erin clocking me in the mouth with a whiffle ball.  Two, Erin nailing Alex in the shin with a horseshoe.  I suppose Erin was able to take some of her aggression out on us, which gave Dan a break.  Alex and Erin performed feats of athleticism never seen before to win.

Other highlights of the day included: The Left Hand Brewery and Carwyn and Cooper bonding.  Left Hand=Much better beer than MGD 64 and Ultra.  You definitely sacrifice taste for calories.

  1. Note to Erin: Horseshoes is best played with a beer in your hand to balance the weight of the shoe in the opposite hand. Been there, done that...I'm just sayin'

April: Whiffle ball in the mouth? Shake it off...

  2. Poor Erin was definitely at a disadvantage being pregnant. Who knew the way to more ringers was through a beer. Good thing Erin and Alex won. I definitely couldn't tolerate a lose being blamed on the baby.
